Adoption, the blind spot of Google Workspace migrations
A Microsoft to Google Workspace migration often ends the same way. The tools are in place. The accounts are created. The teams can work.
And very quickly, a question comes back to project managers and IT teams. How do you know if employees are really adopting Google Workspace, and especially how do you support them in the long term?
In the majority of cases, employees are left to their own devices after the migration. The project teams, for their part, lack the time and tools to finely measure usage.
Adoption then becomes an impression, rarely a reliable indicator. It is precisely this gap between technical deployment and real adoption that gave birth to GSkills.
2023, the birth of GSkills
GSkills was born in 2023 from a simple observation, from the field. Adopting Google Workspace is not so obvious, especially when it comes to measuring this adoption after a migration from Microsoft.
From the start, the objective is clear. Create a tool capable of supporting companies, small or large, just after their migration, at the time when uses must really take root.
The very first idea was radically different. GSkills was initially intended to work in standalone mode, installable locally on an employee's workstation via a USB key. This format quickly showed its limits. Too restrictive to deploy, difficult to maintain, poorly suited to collective adoption.
The choice of SaaS then became natural. Simpler for users, more consistent for companies, and above all more scalable to support adoption over time.
GSkills V1, laying the foundations
The first version of GSkills is based on a deliberately pragmatic technical base.
V1 is built on a fully customized WordPress, in order to allow a quick market launch and adaptation to the real needs of companies.
This version already makes it possible to support initial uses, to offer educational content, courses, and to start capturing adoption signals. The need is validated very quickly. Users adhere, companies see real value in it.
But as GSkills gains users, certain limits appear.
Multi-site becomes complex to maintain. Performance no longer follows the product vision. And above all, the interface no longer allows you to go as far as you want in the user experience.
V1 has fulfilled its role. She laid the foundations. But it can no longer carry the ambition of the product.
Why a V2 becomes essential
V2 was not born from a desire for aesthetic redesign. It was born from a change of scale.
GSkills is starting to be used by more and more employees, in varied contexts, over longer periods. The tool is no longer occasional. It settles into everyday life.
At the same time, the WordPress base becomes a brake. Not from a purely technical point of view, but because it limits the capacity to develop the experience, performance and overall structure of the product.
The vision changes. GSkills should no longer just support a migration. It must become a tool for continuous support of adoption.

GSkills V2, a change of nature
With V2, GSkills changes dimension.
On the employee side, the experience is completely redesigned. The interface becomes more pleasant, more fluid, more engaging. Gamification takes on a more important place, with more badges, courses and content. The goal is clear. Make people want to come back, progress and take ownership of uses over time.
On the company side, V2 provides real control. The data is more numerous, more usable. Statistics can be exported simply. The connection with the Google administration console enriches the reading of uses. Adoption finally becomes measurable, in a concrete and actionable way.
AI as a natural accelerator
V2 also marks the arrival of an integrated AI assistant.
This assistant relies directly on GSkills content, enriched by the Numericoach ecosystem. Articles, resources, existing expertise. AI becomes a natural entry point to support employees at the right time, in their work context.
It's not about replacing content, but making it more accessible, more contextualized and more useful on a daily basis.

The key moment, the migration from V1 to V2
The real test of V2 comes with the first customer migration from V1.
An issue is immediately identified as critical. Do not lose any user data. This data is essential. It allows us to measure adoption, track progress, and above all encourage users to continue over time.
A specific connector is developed to ensure a complete and transparent transition. As a result, the migration runs smoothly. Without worry on the customer side, and with a lot of enthusiasm. This step fully validates the choices made for V2.
From V1 to V2, and after
In a few years, GSkills has gone from a one-off support tool to a continuous adoption platform.
V2 now provides a solid foundation. More efficient, more measurable, more pleasant to use. It allows companies to manage adoption over time, and employees to progress at their own pace.
This is a key step in the product's history. And above all, the starting point for a new phase of evolution.
